Why study Sports Journalism?

Sports Journalism is one of the branches of Social Communication. In its beginnings only men dared to pursue it, but today more and more women are choosing their future around sports. This degree involves many more aspects than might be assumed at first glance, as politics, economics, legislation and business are intertwined in it.

Do You Want to Be a Sports Journalist?

A sports journalist is, above all, a journalist; this means that their training is as rigorous as that of any branch of this career. To choose to study this degree it is not only necessary for the student to like sports, but to deeply wish to be an effective communicator.

In the curricula of different universities and institutes you can see that many of the subjects are aimed at writing, television and announcing, but also at media analysis, content analysis, journalistic research, society and information technologies. The idea of the plain match commentator, who is content with literally telling what is happening in a match or in a race, has become obsolete. Today, being a sports journalist requires the handling of many more tools, which only study at an institution can provide.

Why Choose to Study the Sports Journalism Degree?

• Because it is a relatively short degree compared to others, but it provides the student with an extensive set of tools to work in the media that cover its subject matter.
• Because it is an enjoyable degree for any person who is observant and curious, as well as interested in sports.
• Because it is the perfect degree for those who, while watching a match on television or live, analyze all situations meticulously.
• Because it allows graduates to later train in other branches of journalism.
• The Sports Journalist diploma supports entry into major media outlets, being broad enough to be able to work in radio, television or print.
• Graduates of the Sports Journalism degree will have an analytical ability that will allow them to cover other branches, if their subsequent work activity so requires.
