Universidad Anáhuac Cancún
UAC Private UniversitarioWith the primary goal of elevating the human and social condition of the men and women of Mexico and the world, in 1964 the Universidad Anáhuac was founded at its provisional site in Lomas Virreyes, in the ciudad de México. In 1968 its first permanent campus was inaugurated in Interlomas, municipality of Huixquilucan, State of Mexico.
Following the consolidation of this first university, the commitment to comprehensively educate a growing number of university students moved forward with great dynamism, driving the emergence and integration of the rest of the institutions that today make up the Red de Universidades Anáhuac.
It was in the year 2000 that the Universidad Anáhuac Cancún opened its doors. On August 28 of that year it welcomed its first 147 undergraduate students, thus beginning the first academic term. The bachelor's degrees it offered at that time were: Law, Communication, the common core of the Escuela de Negocios to study the bachelor's degrees in International Business, Marketing, Business Administration and Public Accounting, and the common core of the Escuela de Turismo to study the bachelor's degrees in International Tourism, Hospitality and Restaurant Management.
The admissions goal had not only been met but exceeded, and given the demand, on January 22, 2001 a new first-semester group of the Business common core was opened with 22 students.
As far as academic extension is concerned, the first diploma programs opened in October 2002 and the academic programs chosen for them were: Child and Adolescent Psychology, Iconography, and Senior Management. It is worth mentioning that for the latter, the University signed its first agreement with COPARMEX, which enrolled 35 prominent local businesspeople in the course.
The university was taking its first steps and beginning to position itself among the community's preferences; each of the courses that arrived in Cancún met with a warm response. Since then it was possible to foresee the exponential growth that the institution has had in these years.
