The University Teaching Degree for Secondary and Higher Education in Military Leadership is a curricular complementation cycle that prepares you to teach disciplines related to military activity and Defense. It connects prior professional knowledge with tools for planning lessons, supporting learning, and evaluating its results.

The program also covers tasks carried out outside the classroom: designing programs, producing educational materials, participating in institutional evaluation, and collaborating in the training of other teachers.

Degree, duration, and modality

  • Degree awarded: University Teacher for Secondary and Higher Education in Military Leadership.
  • Type of degree: undergraduate curricular complementation cycle.
  • Duration: 1 and a half years.
  • Modality: in-person.
  • Academic unit: Escuela Superior de Guerra, Facultad del Ejército, Universidad de la Defensa Nacional.

What does it mean to be a curricular complementation cycle?

It means that the training builds on previous higher education. Its purpose is to develop teaching skills based on the knowledge the student already has in their professional field.

In this degree, that preparation is geared toward teaching content related to military leadership and Defense. The program allows you to work on how to organize that knowledge for teaching, what activities to propose, and how to recognize student progress.

What does the teaching degree prepare you for?

Planning and delivering lessons

Graduates can organize teaching proposals within their area of knowledge. This includes defining objectives, selecting content, preparing activities, and establishing evaluation criteria.

Planning provides continuity to learning: each lesson is part of a path with defined purposes.

Assessing learning

Teaching work includes observing what students understand, identifying difficulties, and reviewing teaching strategies.

The teaching degree prepares you to participate in these processes and use their results to improve educational work.

Designing programs and materials

The career field also includes participating in teams that develop teaching plans, programs, and resources. This includes materials for in-person and distance military education.

Interdisciplinary work brings together pedagogical and professional knowledge to develop proposals suited to each context.

Participating in educational improvement

Graduates can take part in institutional evaluation, curriculum review, and teacher self-evaluation processes. These activities make it possible to analyze how an educational proposal works and identify aspects that need changes.

They can also collaborate in planning and developing professional development activities for other teachers.

What content is studied?

The published curriculum is organized into three four-month terms. Below, its contents are presented with summarized names to make reading easier. The full names can be found in the curriculum section of the official teaching degree fact sheet.

First four-month term

  • Educational philosophy and military teaching ethics.
  • Pedagogy.
  • Didactics.
  • Adolescent, youth, and adult psychological development.
  • Argentine educational policy, legislation, and issues.

Second four-month term

  • Military didactics and professional competencies.
  • Psychological bases of learning.
  • Group dynamics applied to teaching.
  • Educational strategic planning.
  • Middle and higher level curriculum design.

Third four-month term

  • Society, university, and military education.
  • Competency evaluation.
  • Virtual education and technologies.
  • Teacher self-evaluation and educational quality.
  • Teaching and supervised teaching practice.

How does the training relate to teaching work?

The program connects teaching, planning, and evaluation. For example, when preparing an educational proposal, teachers need to decide which knowledge is relevant, how to work with it, and what evidence will show learning.

The training also includes reviewing your own performance. Analyzing a class or a program helps identify which decisions supported learning and which ones should be changed.

These skills can be applied both in school subjects and in training and professional development courses related to the military field.

In which institutions can graduates work?

The scope includes teaching in curricular subjects related to their specialty, military disciplines and Defense issues, in:

  • Universities and university institutes.
  • Higher education institutions.
  • Secondary-level institutions for military training and advanced military education.
  • Non-formal education programs in the military and Defense field.

In addition to teaching, graduates can join planning, evaluation, curriculum design and educational materials production teams.

Who can apply?

A degree of at least four years and 2,400 hours is required, related to the fields of military leadership, and three years of teaching experience. For military personnel, certain teaching and instructor roles are taken into account. The fact sheet sets out different requirements for Argentine officers, foreign officers and civilian graduates.

This means the program is aimed at people who already have professional training and teaching experience, and who seek to expand their pedagogical preparation.
