Learning languages remotely in Argentina: courses, academies and online degrees

Learning another language can change much more than the way we communicate. It can expand the possibilities for studying, accessing international literature, working with people from other countries, getting by on trips, participating in global projects or developing a professional career linked to teaching and translation.

Online education also meant that studying languages no longer depends on living near a specific institution. Today it is possible to learn English, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Japanese and other languages from different provinces of Argentina, with options ranging from beginner courses to university degrees and specializations.

The choice should depend mainly on the goal. Someone who wants to start English from scratch does not need the same training as someone looking to improve conversation, prepare for an international certification or complete a bachelor's degree after having studied teacher training.

These are some of the remote options we found in Argentina.

Private universities to study languages online

Language courses at the Universidad del Salvador (USAL)

One of the broadest university options is that of the Centro de Idiomas de la Universidad del Salvador.

Its courses are open to both the university community and the general public and during 2026 they are taught in virtual mode.

The offering includes languages such as English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Chinese, Korean and Russian, among others. The courses are organized by level and, when the student already has knowledge, an assessment is carried out to determine where they should start.

For those who want to study a language in a university environment without completing a full degree, it is an especially interesting alternative. The opening of each language and level depends on demand.

Private degrees for English professionals

If you are already a teacher, translator or have a prior qualification related to English, there are several online degrees that allow you to deepen and complete your university education.

Bachelor's Degree in English Language Teaching – Universidad CAECE

Universidad CAECE offers its Bachelor's Degree in English Language Teaching as a curricular complement cycle in distance mode.

It lasts two years and has official recognition and national validity. It is aimed at English teachers and translators who meet the prior training requirements established by the university.

Its guidance is clearly educational: teaching and learning English, applied linguistics, course and materials design, research and language teaching management.

Bachelor's Degree in English Language – Universidad de Belgrano

The Universidad de Belgrano offers the Bachelor's Degree in English Language as a curricular complementation cycle.

The currently published modality is synchronous online, with weekly meetings, and the degree lasts two years.

To enroll, you must hold a prior qualification as an English Teacher and Translator from a tertiary degree of at least four years. For that reason, it should not be confused with a course for learning English: it is a university development option for those who already have professional training in the language.

Academies and institutions for learning English online

For most people who simply want to learn English, recover knowledge or improve their level, an academy or a specific course may be more suitable than a university degree.

Asociación Argentina de Cultura Inglesa (AACI)

The Asociación Argentina de Cultura Inglesa maintains an extensive online offering during 2026.

For adults there are courses at different levels, from Senior 1 to Senior 6, intensive options and conversation spaces. There is also online preparation for international exams such as Cambridge B2 First, C1 Advanced and C2 Proficiency.

Online courses take place in real time and work on listening comprehension, reading, writing and oral communication. See AACI online courses

ICANA

ICANA – Instituto Cultural Argentino Norteamericano has transformed part of its learning proposal into a more flexible system called ICANA Connect.

Instead of functioning solely as a traditional course, the membership allows you to combine activities and live English Labs, in-person or online, personalized practice, cultural experiences and digital tools. It is aimed at adults with knowledge from approximately A1 level.

For those starting below that level, ICANA also offers an initial program called Startup.

Which language should you study?

There is no single language that is right for everyone. The decision is most useful when it starts from the goal you want to achieve.

English offers a very broad field of application in studies, technology, research, communication, travel and international professional environments. For those who already master it, there is also a significant offering of complementary degrees, certifications and specialized training.

Portuguese can be especially useful for those who need to communicate within South America, travel, study or develop professional relationships with Portuguese-speaking people and organizations.

French, German and Italian open up academic, cultural and professional opportunities and now have specialized institutions that allow you to study them virtually from Argentina.

Languages such as Japanese, Chinese or Korean require more specific learning paths, but it is also possible to start studying them without moving to a big city.

How to choose an online language course

Before enrolling, you should not look only at the name of the institution. Pay special attention to the learning format, how much real contact you will have with teachers and classmates, whether there are live classes, how conversation is practiced, what placement system the institution uses and what certificate it provides.

It is also important to distinguish between a language learning course, an international exam preparation program, and a university degree for professionals who already have prior training.

Learning a language requires time and sustained practice. The advantage today is that the online offering makes it possible to build that journey from practically anywhere in Argentina.

Choosing the right institution and format can turn language learning into a tool that supports your studies, work, and professional development for many years.
