Chemical technicians work with chemists and chemical engineers to develop, produce, sell and use chemical and related products and equipment. A chemical technician is a highly skilled person who works with various chemicals in a laboratory or industrial setting. They are responsible for handling, testing and safely managing chemicals, as well as ensuring proper disposal of hazardous materials. They must know how to use analytical instrumentation, laboratory techniques and safety protocols.

They set up and conduct tests on products or processes that are being developed or improved. They measure reactions, analyze results and carefully record data from these tests and experiments.

Some technicians help with design, equipment installation and training or supervising production line operators. Others test materials, production processes and final products to ensure they meet specifications and quality standards. Some technicians work as sales staff.
