Electronic Engineering is the branch of Engineering that deals with the design and development of electronic devices or circuits to perform a specific function.

What does a graduate of the Electronic Engineering degree do?

In today's world we are surrounded by electronic systems, we can find them both in homes and in almost every industry: Health, Food, Education, etc.

The Electronic Engineering graduate is responsible for designing, planning, implementing, managing, supervising and providing maintenance to electronic equipment and systems, from designing sensors for industrial machinery to maintaining telephone exchanges.

The scope covered by the Electronic Engineering degree is based on the abilities the graduated professional will have to understand, comprehend and carry out the entire process that an electronic device can involve; in this sense it can be said that they can go from carrying out the project or sketching a device, to the end of its manufacture, as well as contribute their skills for its subsequent operation or any repairs that have to be carried out.

What is the Electronic Engineering degree like?

It is a degree that upon graduation awards a professional title, with an approximate course of five years in most of the educational institutions that offer it. Within the subjects you can learn knowledge about different topics such as mathematics, chemistry, physics, mechanics, legal aspects of engineering, probability and statistics, algebra, electromagnetism, analog and digital electronics. In this sense, in some universities the degree has a specific guidance and, for this reason, subjects such as administration and economics are also taught.

Where can an electronic engineer work?

The electronic engineer can work in different areas, from small entities to multinationals, Municipalities or Nations. In this sense, the work itself carried out by professionals of the Electronic Engineering degree is based on combining their knowledge-based work and the manual work they can perform, on their ability to create and design in accordance with the knowledge they can contribute to achieve proper functioning of the device.

There are several fields of action where an electronic engineer can work, from the design and maintenance of electric generators, telecommunications equipment (it can be television, radio, mobile telephony and navigation installations) and industrial plants.

Electronic engineers are also in charge of designing monitoring and measurement equipment for industry and in institutions such as hospitals, airports and emergency centers (firefighters, police, ambulances, etc).

Another field of action where electronic engineers are involved is in the automation and monitoring of industrial processes and assembly lines, including robotics and other more advanced types of control.

Electronic Engineering is, moreover, one of the degrees with the highest global demand, so finding employment is relatively easy.

In the public sector they can focus on tasks involving the systems that regulate traffic or work in the electrical area. The professional can be in charge of assembling certain specific machinery, work in the automotive field, or work in a computing entity; they can perform telecommunications tasks and tasks related to electromagnetism.

The Electronic Engineering degree provides comprehensive training where the professional can be part of a project from the idea to its implementation. Throughout the process they can put into practice all the knowledge acquired during their years of study, and that is why it is a degree with good employment prospects, since it is among the new careers that are highly sought after in various organizations.
