How design is studied in Peru

There are programs in the field at public and private universities and institutes in Lima, Trujillo, Arequipa, Cusco, Piura, Huancayo or Huánuco, among other cities. Not all degrees are taught at all of them, so check where the one you're interested in is offered before deciding.

You learn by doing projects: sketching, trying, revising and presenting. Some institutions ask for a portfolio or an interview. If it's a university, check on the SUNEDU that it is licensed; if it's an institute, ask what qualification it awards.

How to choose between them

Notice what you do when no one asks you to: if you draw, if you edit photos or videos, if you rearrange your room, if you notice how a page or a poster looks.

Then ask yourself what you want to have made at the end: images and messages (Graphic Design), the interior of a place where someone lives or works (Interior Design) or the whole building (Architecture).

If you're torn between Interior Design and Architecture, compare what courses each one has and how long each one lasts: Architecture takes more time. The career test helps you see which one fits what you like to design.
