How to study aviation and transportation in Mexico

There are programs in the field in many states, in public and private institutions: in Ciudad Juárez, Tijuana, Mexicali, Aguascalientes, Tampico or Tuxtla Gutiérrez, among other cities. Several are close to industrial zones, ports or borders, where freight transportation is part of everyday life.

Engineering degrees require a strong foundation in math and physics; logistics and shipping administration are closer to management. If you choose a private institution, ask about its official recognition of validity of studies (RVOE) from the SEP.

How to choose between them

Think about what you do without anyone asking you to: wandering around an airport, following an order all the way to your home or watching how a port is organized.

If you like planning and organizing, Logistics might suit you better than an engineering degree; if engines and calculations are your thing, look at Aeronautical Engineering.

Read the two profiles first and then check which institutions offer them in your state or a nearby one. The career test helps you compare what you think with what you prefer to do.

Frequently asked questions

Can I work in aviation without being a pilot?

No. There are degrees for designing and studying aircraft, others for organizing freight transportation and others for managing the maritime world.

How long do these degrees take in Mexico?

Logistics and Aeronautical Engineering take a similar amount of time, a full bachelor's or engineering degree.

Do I have to like airplanes or ships to study Logistics?

No. Logistics is about getting things to their destination on time, by air, sea, or land, and it applies to any company that produces or sells.

What exam is required to get in?

Each institution defines its own process. The EXANI-II from Ceneval is one of the most widely used; some institutions prefer their own exam. Check the program's admission announcement.

What is the difference between Aeronautical Engineering and Logistics?

Aeronautical Engineering studies how aircraft are designed and how they work; Logistics, how production, storage, and distribution of products are managed. One is technical and the other is organizational.

What does Aeronautical Engineering study?

Aircraft, such as airplanes, helicopters, and drones, and how their engines and systems are integrated. It requires a strong foundation in math and physics, and usually includes labs and design projects.
