The same type of degree can be offered as a university qualification (licenciatura), as a tertiary qualification (tecnicatura) or as a private school course, and that changes the path. Pastry, for example, is usually short training, while university Tourism or Gastronomy take several years. Before choosing, look at what type of qualification each program awards.

There are options at public and private universities, institutes and schools in Ciudad de Buenos Aires, el conurbano, La Plata, Córdoba or Santiago del Estero, among other cities. In cooking ones you spend a lot of time in the workshop, with your hands in the dough; in tourism and hospitality ones you study how a destination, a hotel or a trip is organized.

How to choose between them

Pay attention to what you do when no one asks you to: if you bake on weekends, if you're the one who organizes the group's trip, if you like making others feel comfortable, if languages and people from other places catch your attention.

Then think about which side you want to be on: in the kitchen, creating; or behind an event or a hotel, making everything work, as in Event Planning or Hotel Administration.

If you're torn between Gastronomy and Pastry, compare what is taught in each program, how long it lasts and which one you have nearby. The career test shows you which of these degrees match your answers.
